About the University of Buckingham

A teacher helps a student at her desk Perhaps three features mark us out from other UK Universities:

  • Small and friendly - we are about a twentieth of the size of the average UK University, with a strong collegiate feel, set in an historic market town, but not too far from the bustle of Oxford, Milton Keynes and even London.
  • Remarkable international community - although UK students remain the biggest single group, the University has current students from 70 to 80 different countries and an alumni network that stretches round the world.
  • Dedicated staff - not only do we have a student:academic staff ratio of 7.8:1, twice as good as most UK Universities, we have an incredibly stable community of academics and non-academics. It is this last feature that allows us, for example, to offer fast track undergraduate degrees in two years and to fulfil the University's motto for students of 'Flying on our own Wings'.
