Nigel Adams is Programme Director of the BSc in Business Enterprise. He teaches and mentors Business Enterprise students in a range of subjects, including Business Enterprise and Marketing Management. Nigel maintains contact with the world of business as the managing director of Nigel Adams & Company Ltd. His business provides practical international marketing and management advice and support to British companies, helping them to establish and develop operations or outsource in Central and Eastern Europe, especially in Poland. Katie is no stranger to Buckingham after completing a BSc Business Studies with Finance in February 2004. After gaining her first class degree she joined the Mercedes-Benz graduate programme and undertook a variety of roles including Retail Financial Accountant. Whilst working she qualified as an ACCA accountant through BPP. Katie teaches Introduction to Financial Accounting on the undergraduate programmes and Financial Reporting to the MSc students. In her spare time Katie enjoys attending Jazzercise classes 3 times a week, watching Watford play football and catching up with friends. |

Born in Kolkatta, India, Debarpita Bardhan-Correia did her undergraduate degree in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from St. Joseph's College of Arts & Science, Bangalore. Since graduation, Debarpita has worked for The Oberoi Group, which owns and manages thirty-five luxury and first class international hotels in seven countries. She worked in high customer contact areas of the hotels in Mumbai, India involved initially with the activities of the Housekeeping Department and later with the sales and marketing activities of the hotel. She then opted to pursue higher studies at the University of Buckingham and completed her Master's in Service Management with distinction in 2000. Deba lectures in Human Resource Management, Research Methods in Business and Managing People Across Cultures. She is Programme Director for the MSc in Service Management, and also supervises Master's dissertations in the area of service management. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Cranfield University and her research focus is in the area of HR and performance in the context of services. |

Frances lectures in the areas of marketing and research methods and is Programme Director for the MSc in International Marketing Management. Prior to joining Buckingham, she worked in marketing consultancy and international marketing research where she was international project manager for Europe and Latin America. She is a keen linguist and particularly enjoys the multi-cultural nature of the students at Buckingham. Her interests lie in the behavioural aspects of marketing and qualitative approaches in research. John was born in South Africa. He graduated with Engineering degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and spent 12 years in industry and local government in South Africa in the areas of project and design engineering, management services, operations research, and operations management. One of his jobs was Chief Solid Waste Engineer, where he was line manager for 1200 people and 400 vehicles. At current prices, the annual budget controlled by this post was over £30m. In 1987 he came with his British wife and three boys to live in England and took up a position as Senior Lecturer in Operations Management at the University of Buckingham. He became a Reader in 1990 and was Dean in 1992. His interests are in lean operations, both in service and manufacturing. Becoming 'lean', he believes, should be a priority for all operations-led organisations. John is the author of several best-selling books including The Lean Toolbox and The Quality 60 . He has lectured to Master's students at Warwick University, Cranfield University, London Business School, Cardiff Business School and at Fachhochschule Wedel. Patricia Britten holds a Master's degree in Manufacturing Management from the Cranfield Institute of Technology and is a Sloan Fellow (MBA) of the London Business School. Her specialisations include strategic information systems, investment appraisal, and the management of change. She has extensive business management and consultancy experience in senior roles covering business analysis and reviews, computer systems development and implementation, the strategic development of IT, evaluation of software and hardware for MIS, ERP and MRP, vendor assessment, Internet website design, operational and process improvement. Patricia has worked for a wide variety of organisations, which include service and retail, financial institutions, defence, manufacturing, local government and educational institutions, with annual turnovers ranging from £250,000 to over £40 million. Patricia is an experienced lecturer in management and business studies (IT strategy, information systems, business policy, finance and accounting topics). At Buckingham, Patricia teaches the following courses: Principles of Information Systems, Information Systems Policy, Information and Communication Technologies, Computing Fundamentals and Quantitative Methods. |

Elaine is Secretary to the Business School with responsibility for undergraduate degree programmes. She joined the University in 2006 having previously lived and worked in Kent. Elaine enjoys playing squash and relaxing with her family. |

Peter's background is in marketing and strategy; he spent twenty years in industry, working for Ford Motor Company, in the oil industry, in automotive components and high technology. His last job in industry was as Commercial Marketing Director, Allen-Bradley International, with EMEA reponsibilities. Peter has spent twenty years in management education - at Henley Management College where he was Director of Automotive Management, at Nottingham Business School where he was KPMG Professor of Automotive Industries Management, and, since August 2007, as the KPMG Professor of Automotive Management and Head of Centre at Buckingham. Peter's special interests are in motor industry strategy, the automotive components industry, vehicle distribution, fleet management and vehicle finance and the used vehicle industry. He is the author of ten books in English, Polish and Russian and writes frequently for the specialist press in the UK and Europe. He appears regularly on radio and television. He has undertaken business, teaching and consultancy in more than fifty countries. He is a Winston Churchill Memorial Fellow of 2002, and Vice Chair of the Independent Living Funds. Professor Dover was Dean of the Business School from March 2004 until July 2006, when he returned to Babson College in the USA. During his time at Buckingham, it was Phil who proposed and saw through the introduction of the unique BSc Business Enterprise honours degree programme in the Business School. Phil is now a visiting professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Buckingham. On his return to Babson, Phil took up his position of Faculty Director of the School of Executive Education at Babson College (external link), the world's premier business school for entrepreneurship. He previously taught on the faculties at the Amos Tuck School and IMD, as well as acting as a visiting professor at Cranfield. Phil consults and teaches with some of the world's largest corporations with particular emphasis on the issues of corporate entrepreneurship. His current research interests revolve mainly around the area of high technology management, with active research programmes under way on solutions management and strategic partnering. He is also working on a text on the development and management of business solutions. |

Lawrie spent three very enjoyable years at Cambridge before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. Lawrie then worked for ten years in the professional offices of Arthur Andersen and KPMG, before setting up a college preparing students for ACA and ACCA professional examinations. After many years of teaching on professional examination courses, Lawrie joined Buckingham in 1992. Lawrie now lectures part-time at the University in the areas of Financial Accounting and Taxation. Born in Germany and raised in the USA, Anneke Edmonds returned to Europe after achieving her BA from Tulane University, New Orleans. She has worked as a marketing consultant in a variety of industries: retail, stationery, high tech software, offshore banking, new media promotions, adult education and not-for-profit organisations. She has a particular interest in entrepreneurship and in 2005 she began teaching Adult Education classes in "How to Start Up Your Own Business". This led to teaching and programme management of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) courses in Milton Keynes, London, Moscow, and she recently joined the faculty at S.P. Jain Business School in Dubai. She has brought her expertise to the Buckingham Business School and received accreditation from CIM to start a professional study centre offering CIM qualifications. She is researching her MPhil / DPhil in the marketing of higher education at the University of Buckingham. A Fellow of CIM and a Chartered Marketer, Anneke is passionate about educating businesses and individuals in marketing best practice. |

Anne Hampton joined the University of Buckingham in September 1995, having been a Senior Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University for 7 years where she specialised in International Tourism and Hotel Management. Since joining the University of Buckingham Anne has broadened her expertise into the areas of International Business and Marketing which she teaches at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. She is also Programme Director of the MBA. Anne continues her involvement in tourism and hotel management through her professional activities and working with colleagues at other academic institutions. Anne's main academic interest is in the global development of international businesses. She is currently working on a research project entitled "Developing Global Mindsets" with James Rowell. They are investigating the issues facing companies that are growing their international business activities. The study aims to establish how such companies develop, manage and organise their international operations with a specific emphasis on management development and thinking from an international perspective. Professor Ronnie Lessem is a Reader in Trans-cultural Management and Director of the Social and Economic Transformation programmes at the University. He has a Master's in the Economics of Industry, from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard, majoring in corporate planning. His doctorate, from City University in London, was focused on action learning for enterprise development. Professor Lessem's focus, at Buckingham, is on the conscious evolution of particular societies, through their local identity towards a global integrity. He has been involved in major research and development projects in Western and Eastern Europe, in Southern Africa, the Middle East and in India to integrate liberalisation with individuation and modernisation with civilisation. In the process he has written some twenty books on culture, management and learning and has consulted with companies around the world, focusing on the development of knowledge creating communities. At the core of all of this is the concept of the four worlds - pragmatic, rational, holistic and humanistic - which underpin the trans-cultural and developmental approaches that characterise transformation management. Andrew studied for his MBA at Buckingham, which he gained with distinction in 2007 after nearly twenty years working in the financial services industry. Andrew holds the Institute of Directors Diploma in Company Direction. In his last role before entering academia he was Managing Director, Retail for Old Mutual Asset Managers. Andrew teaches Introduction to Management to undergraduates and Business Ethics to both undergraduates and postgraduates. He retains a keen interest in the financial services sector and also works closely with not-for-profit and non-governmental organisations. Andrew is currently studying for a doctorate at Buckingham where, on behalf of the Quicken Trust, he is investigating the sources of capital required for socio-economic transformation in rural Uganda. In his spare time he is a keen supporter of Northampton Saints, the Premiership rugby club, and a dedicated skier. |
Wondimu Mekonnen holds an MSc in Accounting from the University of Stirling (1989), an MSc in Economics with a specialisation in Finance and Credit from Donetsk State University, USSR (1981), and a Diploma in Accounting from the Commercial College of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (1973). Wondimu started his career in accounting with Ethiopian Airlines in 1973. From 1981 to 1998, he was a Lecturer of Accounting and Finance at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He taught courses including Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting, Financial Management and Risk Management and Insurance. He provided consultancy services to the beverage industry on cost accounting. In May 1999 he took up employment with JSA, a firm of chartered accountants based in Watford, where he became Corporate Tax Accountant. After almost seven and a half years service, he left JSA to return to the academic world. From January to June 2007, he worked as a part-time lecturer at Grafton College, lecturing on courses designed for MSc students: Financial Management, Management Accounting and Financial Accounting. He joined the University of Buckingham in October 2007, and he teaches Introduction to Management Accounting and Management Accounting to undergraduate students and Strategic Management Accounting at MSc level. He is Programme Director of the BSc in Accounting and Finance. Wondimu is currently researching "Measurement of income volatility in the post-IAS world". In the past, he has done research on "Performance measurement using techniques applied to management accounting" and "Estimating domestic cost of capital from international market data: conceptual and empirical issues". |

One of the longest standing members of staff, Doreen joined the University in 1978 as secretary to the Registrar and became secretary of the Business School when it was started. She has since been the postgraduate secretary and has been witness to all the cohorts of business students that have graduated since the earliest days. She is currently working part-time for the Business School, assisting in administration related matters. When not at work, Doreen enjoys travelling the world and working in her garden. |

James Rafferty is IMI-D.K.Chowdhury Professor of Management. He joined the University in June 1987 following many years in industry where he held senior management positions. His industrial management experience includes Financial Planning and Strategy with General Motors Corporation and the Granada Group and he has been the Managing Director of firms in the furniture, precision engineering and electronics industries. His consultancy interests are in the area of strategic management and industrial strategy, and he has been a consultant to a number of organisations including the UNDP and UNIDO. James was Head of the Department of Management from 1988 to 1994 and again from 2000 to 2004. From 1997 to 2000 he was the Founding Director of the MBA programme in the Business School. He lectures on the strategy courses on both the undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc, MBA) programmes in the Business School. James has published in international journals and has lectured to students at Cranfield University (UK), Temasek Polytechnic (Singapore), the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore), the Chinese Technology and Textile University (Shanghai), the Chinese Culture University (Taiwan) and the University of St John's (Newfoundland). Dr Frances Robinson has a BSc in Mathematics from Leeds University, an MSc in Applicable Mathematics and a PhD in Aerodynamics both from Cranfield University. She also holds a PGCE and a Diploma in Teaching from New Zealand where she worked for a number of years. She has taught in schools and colleges in both New Zealand and England. She spent a short time in industry before returning to teaching. Her teaching responsibility covers mathematical and statistical methods. She is responsible for international co-operation agreements and acts as Admissions Tutor for the Business School. When not looking after student issues, Frances has a penchant for travel and scuba diving. |

James Rowell joined the University of Buckingham full-time in January 2002 following a number of terms as a visiting lecturer. From 2004-06 he was the Programme Director for the MBA at Buckingham. He lectures in operations management and logistics on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Prior to this he has worked in the areas of operations management and marketing with a variety of leading companies. Since 1995 he has been a visiting lecturer at a number of universities including Bradford UBMC, BCUC, University of London and the University of Minneapolis / St Paul (USA). As a part of a portfolio of activities he also provided business consultancy in the areas of business research and development. He has also conducted management training in operations, quality management and marketing as a consultant for RIPA International (London) including, in August 2000, a training seminar held in Botswana. Since 2005 he has delivered Logistics and Supply Chain Management courses for Advancia-Negocia in Paris. His research interests include the methodology for the development of competitive advantage in SME environments, and with his colleague Anne Hampton research on the development of Global Leadership in SMEs. In his spare time James likes walking, swimming, improving his French, and developing his skills as an artist. |
Abbas Sadak,

Abbas Sadak is a chartered accountant as well as a UK chartered tax adviser. He trained as an auditor before specialising in UK and international tax and transfer pricing (TP). He has worked for Deloitte & Touche LLP, RSM Robson Rhodes LLP (now merged with Grant Thornton LLP) and Ernst & Young LLP. His professional experience to date includes assisting clients with UK tax compliance matters, assisting on numerous multi-national groups on various kinds of multi-jurisdictional transfer pricing, international tax issues as well as dealing with UK inbound and outbound investment issues. He has also participated in numerous bilateral advance pricing agreement (APA) discussions and negotiations with tax authorities both in the UK and USA to resolve TP disputes. Abbas has been involved with training and facilitating technical courses whilst at Deloitte and Touche LLP and RSM Robson Rhodes LLP. He is the main co-ordinator of the Taxation course. |

Before joining Buckingham, Eddie worked as a statistician in the Cabinet Office and in two London local authorities (Hammersmith and Haringey). His degrees are in Natural Sciences and in Economics & Statistics, and his interests are in the application of statistics in a variety of scientific fields. Much of the research he has done has been joint work with colleagues in biology and economics. He was Dean of the School of Sciences at Buckingham from 1989 - 1995, and Head of the Psychology Department from 1997 - 2001. He is now a member of the Business School, and though much of his teaching is to undergraduate and postgraduate students in management, he also teaches courses for psychology, economics and accounting students. |

Debbie joined the Business School in July 2002, but is no stranger to the University as she previously worked as secretary in the Publicity Office. Outside of the University, Debbie's main interests are spending time with her family but she also enjoys swimming, reading and wine tasting. |

Jane is Dean of the Business School. She also lectures in the areas of organisational behaviour and business psychology. Prior to joining Buckingham, she worked as a business psychology consultant and managed projects in selection, assessment, management development and team working for both public and private sector organisations. Jane's doctoral thesis was in the area of the organisational change to team working and she is currently researching the entrepreneurial personality. Paul has a BSc in Economics & Accounting from the University of Bristol and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He has spent more than 20 years as a professional accountant, both in professional practice and as an independent interim financial manager for commercial and financial services companies. Paul joined Buckingham in 2005, after working as a visiting lecturer. He lectures in Auditing and all aspects of Accounting, Financial Reporting and Corporate Governance, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His academic interests include Corporate Governance and the interface between the theoretical and practical aspects of Accounting and Financial Reporting. He teaches the following modules:
