Studying at the Business School
|
The 2-year undergraduate and 1-year postgraduate degrees at Buckingham are intensive programmes of study in which you are expected to attend all lectures and tutorials and to submit assignments on time. We provide a very strong support system that gives you ready access to both tutors and advisors, allowing you to fulfil your potential. We rely heavily on group learning, encouraging you to develop excellent work skills and to learn from your colleagues. We are putting increasing emphasis on project-based learning, where students either work on real-world assignments in local companies or take short-term commercial placements. |

Individual courses within your degree programme normally carry a value of 15 or 30 units (depending on whether they are a 1-term or 2-term course). At Buckingham, we specify that one unit is the equivalent of 10 hours of study . Normally a lecture of 2-hours would be followed by a 50-minute tutorial of 4-6 students, where a topic can be pursued in depth in a more informal environment. However, some of the specialist Masters programmes are taught in intense 3-5 day modules in order to accommodate both full and part-time students.
Teaching takes place over four nine-week periods (or terms ) a year, with a further two weeks in June and December for examinations.
