Introduction to taught postgraduate study at the Buckingham Business School

A series of imaginative and market-relevant MSc programmes have been developed in Accounting and Finance, and as well as our MBA, we are well known for our unique MSc in Service Management.

All the programmes, if studied full-time, last for a year and are spread over 4 terms. They are assessed through a range of methods, including coursework (essays, reports) presentations, exams, projects and dissertations. Class sizes are kept small, to enable highly personalised staff / student interaction.

Introduction to postgraduate study by research at the Buckingham Business School

Research activities in the School of Business tend to be clustered around the personal expertise and interests of individual members of faculty. In this respect we are no different from other university business schools; but due to our relatively small size, it does mean that we have to be highly selective in the opportunities we pursue and we focus our resources in research areas relevant to our student and client base. We have also found it desirable for staff to collaborate with colleagues of like mind in other universities as part of a "network" approach in their chosen field.

In recent years we have attracted sponsorship from such funding bodies as the European Union, UK Research Councils, and various international commercial / industrial organisations. Often, our funding is secured under conditions, which are both "competitive" and "matched" (i.e. involving a combination of public and private sources). Our success in this area is indicative of our underlying strengths in certain fields and our growing reputation for delivering value.
