6-month EAP
The 6-month Foundation aims to provide a mixture of English language and academic preparation for students with an intermediate level of English (4.5 IELTS or equivalent) for degree-level studies. The first 3 months will concentrate on developing general English competency both with regard to written and verbal communication in addition to introducing students to the terminology and concepts of the subject they will be studying at degree level. This continues in the final 3 months focusing to a greater extent on study skills - essay writing, extended academic writing, reading for gist, listening to lectures, note-taking and giving presentations.
Students who start the 6-month Foundation programme in July will take the IELTS preparation course in the Summer Term, followed by further study on the one-term pre-sessional course in the Autumn Term.
