Halls Internet Access (HIA)
In response to requests from students (see the ISUG pages for your nearest student rep), Halls Internet Access (HIA) has been rolled out every study bedroom across campus.
HIA complements the existing Wireless Internet Access (WIA) service and provides 24-hour open access computing facilities by bringing Internet connectivity right into students' study bedrooms. It is free of charge but students must provide their own computer equipment (apart from the network lead) and comply with the Terms of Use specified.
HIA is available in every study bedroom. In December 2004, the Sunley Building was brought online as a pilot. Following the success of this initial trial, HIA was expanded to four more halls for the start of Summer term 2005: Caine House, Bateman House, Harris House and Paulley House and to three further halls for the start of Winter term 2006: Beloff House, Hailsham House and Hutber House. As of April 2007, HIA is available in Norton's Place, Bishop's Court and Mitre Court, completing the program.
