Facilities and equipment
- Self-service copiers are provided for Library users on both sites.
- Students use uCards for photocoping.
- Copying from printed materials may only be carried out within the provisions of the relevant copyright legislation.
- Users who need to make transparencies are asked to use those provided by the Library, since low quality transparencies can cause damage to the copiers.
- A colour printer is available in the Hunter Street Library.
Computers
- There are computers near the service desk and on the first floor in the Hunter Street Library.
- Headphones may be borrowed from the Hunter Street Library service desk for use in conjunction with multimedia CD-ROM s.
- Several computers are available for reference use near the service desk at the Franciscan Library.
- CD -writers are available in both libraries.
Scanners
- There is a scanner at each of the two site libraries. The scanner software allows high quality image scanning and fully automated Optical Character Recognition ( OCR ). Image resolution is up to 1200 x 1200, with all popular formats supported, e.g. BMP , GIF , JPEG , etc.
- Scanners are located close to the service desk at each library.
Microfiche / film readers
There is a fiche reader at the Franciscan Library and a film reader
in the Hunter Street Library.
Audio-Visual
Room
This is on the ground floor of the Hunter
Street Library, near the Reference section. There is audio-visual
equipment in the room for viewing videos and
DVD
s and
listening to
CD
s and audio-cassettes.
A-V Room rules :
- Students must sign for the room key and leave their uCard at the Library Desk.
- The signatory is responsible for the room and the key until the key is returned to the Desk.
- Only A-V material borrowed from the Library may be used.
- Headphones must be used.
- No recording is allowed.
- A maximum of three people may use the room at one time.
Library study areas
Quiet areas are provided throughout the Library for private study.
In addition, there are areas where students can work in groups, or
use their own portable computers. Group study areas are located on
the ground floor of both sites.
Wireless Internet Access

The University has
Wireless Internet
Access
. This means that you can access the Internet from your
own laptop computers when you are in the Library.
The following areas are WIA zones:
- The journal / reference section on the ground floor of the Hunter Street Library.
- The Group Study Room on the ground floor of the Franciscan Library.

is also available in areas outside the
Library, including the Anthony de Rothschild Building foyer.
