A. Hampton & J. Rowell. Managing across Borders at Dixons. Cranfield: ECCH (reference 306-618-1), 2006.
Anne Hampton and James Rowell are pleased to announce that ECCH have published their recent case study Managing Across Borders at Dixons and supporting teaching notes. The research-based case investigates the nature of how Dixons (now DSG International plc) manages and organises its home and international operations on a regional basis. Anne and James have used the case study with students on the Global Business course of the MBA programme at University of Buckingham.
The research was started originally by Anne Hampton, Tina Mair and James Rowell in 2005. They were awarded a Dennison Research Grant in 2005 and 2006. Subsequent to her emigration to New Zealand at the end of 2005 Tina Mair had to end her involvement with this research. However, the authors are pleased to acknowledge her original input. They continue to be grateful for the support of the Dennison Research Grant as well as the encouragement received from their colleagues.
Their research into "Developing Global Mindsets" is on-going, and their intention is to be able to draw broader conclusions from their case-based activities. They are currently finalising a second case study on Twinings-Ovaltine which will be piloted with students in the Business School in the Spring Term.
Anne Hampton is a Lecturer in International Business and Marketing, originally joining the University in September 1995 to lecture in international tourism and hotel management. James Rowell joined the University in January 2002 as Lecturer in Operations and Logistics Management, and was the Programme Director for the Buckingham MBA 2004-06.
