BOOK LAUNCH IN HONOUR OF PROFESSOR NORMAN BARRY

The cover of Classical Liberalism in the 21st Century

Tuesday 9 February 2010

The launch of Classical Liberalism in the 21st Century; Essays in Honour of Norman Barry on Wednesday 3 February was a great success. It was held at the Institute of Economic Affairs in London. The location gave the event an informal atmosphere and those in attendance, many of whom had recollections of Professor Barry to share, enjoyed talking to each other. After all the guests had arrived, Professor Martin Ricketts and Dr Michael James gave short speeches. They thanked all the contributors for writing their pieces and thanked the guests for attending the evening. Guests included a former Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, Professor Sir Alan Peacock; the present Vice-Chancellor, Dr Terence Kealey; participants at the Norman Barry conference in March 2009, including Dr Navari, Professor O'Keeffe and Philipp Müller; teachers at the University, including Professor Colin Robinson, Professor Geoffrey Wood and Mr Michael Jefferson; and some of Professor Barry's former students.

Guests were welcomed by Mr Christopher Woodhead, Managing Director of the University of Buckingham Press, whose wife, Chloe, was also there in her capacity as Chairman of Council, and by the Editor, Dr Michael James, a former colleague of Norman Barry's, who signed copies of the book.

More information about the book can be found in our Publication of the Week section (8 February 2010).
